How the calculation works

Choose gross earnings and pay frequency. Contribution estimates follow the NIC schedule; income tax is annualized and converted back to your chosen period where the rules are verified. Contribution-only results exclude PAYE and are not full take-home pay.

Selected rates and thresholds

Employee and employer NIC are each 5%, with earnings above EC$60,000 a year excluded. The monthly ceiling is EC$5,000. Use IRD’s revised tax code for PAYE; this page does not invent missing employee reliefs.

Worked example

At EC$4,000 monthly gross earnings, employee NIC is EC$200 and employer NIC is EC$200. Gross less NIC alone is EC$3,800; PAYE is separate.

Employer considerations

NIC estimates use the published 5% employee and employer rates with the EC$5,000 monthly ceiling. PAYE requires an employee-specific revised tax code following the 2026 amendments; current PAYE verification is incomplete. Employer contributions are paid in addition to gross earnings; they are not deducted from an employee’s net pay.

From one employee to an entire payroll

Import your employee spreadsheet into Sheetpay Accountant, review the payroll and approve it before finalization. Keep NIC identifiers and employee tax details with each record.
