How overtime earnings work

Hourly rate × overtime hours × your applicable multiplier gives overtime gross pay. The multiplier is entered by you; the calculator does not decide legal entitlement.

Worked example

TT$25 per hour × 8 overtime hours × an entered multiplier of 1.5 gives TT$300 in overtime earnings. A multiplier of 1.5 is an example, not a statement of the law for every employee.

Check the applicable employment terms

Confirm the employment contract, occupation, working-day category, rest-day/public-holiday rules and current labour guidance in Trinidad & Tobago. Overtime earnings may also be taxable and insurable.

Employer considerations

Pensioners and Class Z require separate treatment. Employer contributions are paid in addition to gross earnings; they are not deducted from an employee’s net pay.
